Energy Boosts For You!

According to some research, one night of sleep deprivation can make a person function as if they had a few alcoholic beverages.

1998 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report, the loss of one night's sleep can cause short-term sleepiness. The habitual loss of sleep, even by 1 or 2 hours a night, can lead to chronic sleepiness. Studies show sleepiness leads to car crashes by impairing reaction time, decreasing attention and focus, and decreasing the ability to perform mental tasks.

Do you feel like you are 'hungover' even when you haven't been drinking? Not having a good night's sleep can make you feel like that.

Try this:

Keep a regular sleep schedule - Go to bed and wake up at the same times every day, even on weekends.

Sunlight increases melatonin, which regulates your sleep-wake cycles. Try to get at least two hours of sunlight a day.

Develop bedtime rituals - soothing rituals, like taking a bath or playing music will help you ease into sleep.

Avoid caffeine and alcohol. While alcohol can help you fall asleep, it usually restless sleep.

Enjoy a snack such as crackers, cereal and milk, or yogurt or warm milk. The old wive's tale about warm milk is true, it helps induce sleep.

Relieve stress with meditation and yoga.
