Size:
It's not just your waist and leg length measurements  anymore.  Now you want to consider your hip and thigh size.
Start with your waist and length.  Choose several within that size range and don't hesitate to try a size larger.  Sometimes a larger size at the waist will fit better at the hips.

Color:
If you don't look as trim as you would like to look, select dark, dark jeans.  It's a well known fact in fashion that black can help us appear slimmer.  Same with jeans.  The darker the blue, the slimmer the look.

Style:
Large flair legs look good only on very thin bodies.  Too skinny just reveals bulges if you have any.  Opt for boot cut.  They look good on most shapes and will make your legs look longer.

Selecting:
Jeans that skim the top of your shoes look good.
Diagonal pockets will make you look slimmer than straight pockets.
Zipper jeans seem to give us a flatter look than buttons.
Be sure to check the rear from all sides.
Designs on the butt are not flattering unless you have almost no butt.

Most important tip, make sure you feel comfortable in the jeans you select.  In today's world, jeans are worn for more occasions than most anything else in your wardrobe.
